The City of Vincent is inviting the community to have their say on its updated Local Planning Strategy, which sets out how Vincent will grow and change over the next 15 years.
With Vincent required to plan for 11,490 new dwellings by 2050, an effective Local Planning Strategy is essential to ensure this growth is well managed.
The Strategy outlines where new houses, jobs and development should be located, while protecting the heritage, character and green spaces that make Vincent a great place to live.
The long-term direction is to concentrate growth in town centres, along major transport routes and near train stations. This approach supports more housing choices, more walkable and connected neighbourhoods, thriving local businesses, increased tree canopy and a healthier natural environment
City of Vincent Mayor Alison Xamon encouraged the community to take part in the survey.
“If you have views on how your neighbourhood should look in the future, now is the time to share them while the big-picture vision is being shaped.
“The Local Planning Strategy is about balancing growth with protecting what makes Vincent special.
“We’re supporting more housing choice and better-connected neighbourhoods, while also maintaining the heritage, character and green spaces that contribute to Vincent being WA’s most liveable City.”
The Local Planning Strategy is the basis for all planning decisions in Vincent. It sets the long-term vision and direction that other planning documents, including the Local Planning Scheme, help deliver.
The Strategy is reviewed every five years to ensure it remains up to date and responds to changing community needs. It has been informed by previous community feedback and studies.
A series of pop-ups will be held in July where community members can speak with members of the City’s planning team. More information is available on Imagine Vincent and feedback closes 5pm Monday, 3 August 2026.
