Local History Awards 2016

The Local History Centre plays host to our latest exhibition, where you’ll find the best of the photographic and written entries for the 2016 Local History Awards. With 52 newly donated photos, the display takes viewers on a historical journey through everyday life and the stunning architecture in Vincent pre-1986.

Featuring homes and families, kids in backyards, formal portraits, wedding snaps, old cars and Perth city landscapes through the ages, these photos are a visual feast for lovers of all things vintage, retro and nostalgia!

In addition to the stunning imagery, 19 written entries are also on display to read. The entries are privately published research and memoirs of the vastly different lives that entwined their way through the suburbs within the Vincent precinct. With childhood memories and stories of ancestors, house histories and migrants, there are also stories from the heroes of the North Perth Fire Service.

This year’s Local History Award entries have been donated to the City of Vincent Local History Centre and are available to future researchers and visitors to the library and Local History Centre.
