National Reconciliation Week in Vincent

This year, our Reconciliation Week program has been all about learning something new and exploring the practices and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait cultures.

The 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, guided our learning. Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

Community members came together for hands-on workshops that highlighted the richness of Noongar knowledge and creativity. From the delicious tradition of damper making with Noongar Yorga woman Kaya Carson to the beautiful artistry of Quandong jewellery making with Noongar artist Fiona Reidy, our program was as popular as ever.

City of Vincent staff took part in cultural learning with Rosemary Walley, enjoyed a damper-making session, and shared in a bush tucker BBQ by All Good Grub.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

We’re proud to walk this journey together. Read more about Vincent's vision for reconciliation
