Mental health and the impact of climate set as key focus areas in Vincent

The City of Vincent’s Public Health Plan 2026–2031 sets a clear direction to support a healthier, more connected and resilient community over the next five years.

Endorsed by Council at the May Ordinary Council Meeting, the plan outlines how health and wellbeing considerations will be embedded across City planning, services, programs and public spaces. In developing the plan, we considered community and stakeholder feedback and local health trends and evidence, broader State public health priorities and the needs of our local community.

The plan is a framework for supporting the health and wellbeing of our community and strengthens our proactive approach to protect future generations. It sets out priorities that consider health holistically and creates healthy environments where people can thrive.

City of Vincent Mayor, Alison Xamon said good public health starts long before someone books a doctor’s appointment.

“We heard from our community that mental health is one of the biggest challenges people are facing right now. That includes loneliness, stress, social isolation and the pressure many people are carrying from the current uncertainty in the world.”

“This plan recognises that wellbeing is shaped by the places we live and the connections we have in our neighbourhood,” Mayor Xamon said.

The plan also supports broader health outcomes by encouraging active lifestyles, inclusive public spaces and stronger community connections. The City looks forward to continuing to work with local organisations, and both government and non-government agencies to support the health and wellbeing of our community.

The Public Health Plan 2026–2031 is available now.
