JACK MARKS RESERVE
The City of Vincent has completed its latest greening initiative at Jack Marks Reserve, located at the intersection of Broome, Wright, and Turner Streets in Highgate.
The project, part of the City’s ongoing eco-zoning program, saw the installation of a new homestead-style fence and significant landscaping improvements to enhance the reserve’s natural environment and sustainability.
Following community feedback received in November, the new fence was installed at a height of 900mm to ensure safety while maintaining an open and welcoming feel.
The upgrade began with the removal of the previous fencing, making way for landscaping work across designated eco-zoning areas. This involved mulching and preparation for native planting to support biodiversity and reduce water usage. In addition, the grassed verge along Wright Street was replaced with crushed pea gravel, providing a low-maintenance, environmentally-friendly surface that complements the surrounding native garden.
This initiative aligns with the City’s Greening Plan, which focuses on increasing green space, supporting local ecosystems, and creating more sustainable urban environments.
