Polyphagous shot-hole borer treatment at Hyde Park

The City of Vincent is actively managing a highly active infestation of Polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB) in several historic trees at Hyde Park.

The City, in collaboration with a team of highly specialised arborists, will be undertaking PSHB-related pruning and chemical treatment works on Tuesday 3 February 2026 and Wednesday 4 February 2026. During this time, three significant Moreton Bay Figs (Ficus macrophylla) will be thoroughly inspected for PSHB activity, pruned where required, and chemically treated to reduce pest activity within each tree.

While there is currently no single treatment that can completely eradicate PSHB, substantial evidence from California and other local governments across Perth indicates that infested trees can be retained and may recover over time when similar integrated pest management approaches are implemented.

Find out more about what the City's doing to manage PSHB.

As part of these works, a large area adjacent to Vincent Street (see below) will be temporarily cordoned off for public safety. Please keep clear of designated work zones while treatments are underway.
