Mount Hawthorn Lesser Hall Refurbishment

Published on Friday, 1 March 2019 at 2:05:26 PM

The Mount Hawthorn Lesser Hall will be receiving a makeover over the coming months to modernise the look of the hall and integrate it more with the surrounding Braithwaite Park.

Works commence on 4 March until July and include a redesigned portico and verandah, new glass entrance doors, a refurbished kitchen, new hall interior and a wheel chair lift system that allows wheelchair access to the upgraded indoor toilets.

The Mount Hawthorn Community Centre was built in 1961 and includes a ground floor lesser hall and a second floor main hall. The façade of the centre has been largely unchanged since that time.

There will be no public access to the lesser hall during construction, however the main hall on the second floor will still be operational and open for bookings.
