Precinct Transport Studies

The City of Vincent is working with the community to develop precinct-wide transport studies, identifying practical and cost-effective solutions to local traffic challenges.

The precinct studies will address these challenges with the people who work, live and visit the City of Vincent by:

  • Improving safety of the road crossings, including at school drop off points
  • Managing speeds of traffic
  • Creating safer streets for all road users, especially those walking and cycling
  • Managing congestion by reviewing intersection designs and transit corridors
  • Filling gaps in the footpath network
  • Finding cost effective solutions, taking advantage of external funding and implementing them in a timely manner

Why are we doing this?

Getting around your neighbourhood should feel safer, easier and less stressful. These studies are designed to make that happen.

We're undertaking Precinct Transport Studies to look at how the entire local road network works, not just individual streets or intersections. This means solutions are coordinated, so fixing one issue does not create another nearby.

With limited street space, growing demand for parking and more people travelling to the same places at similar times, pressure on the network continues to increase.

These studies also consider the real challenges you face such as time constraints, reliance on cars, safety concerns when walking or cycling and access to public transport to better understand how you move now and what needs to improve for the future.

What does a Precinct Transport Study include?

  • Review of available data including:
    • Crash data
    • Vehicle speeds and volumes
    • Walking and cycling movements
    • Public transport use
  • Transport modelling using computer simulations to show how traffic flows, where congestion builds and how people travel.
  • Current and future land uses
  • Current speed limits of roads and their compatibility with all transport modes
  • Public transport routes
  • Long term cycle network routes
  • Existing infrastructure and changes already proposed to the transport system
  • Community insights
