William Street in Northbridge will burst into colour on Sunday as part of the Lunar New Year Lantern Festival.

The City of Vincent has partnered with Northbridge Common and the Chung Wah Association to mark the end of the Chinese New Year with a street party.

Beautiful red lanterns will adorn William Street between Newcastle and Vincent streets as businesses and families celebrate the Year of the Rat.

Between 4pm and 9pm, revelers will be able to enjoy lion dances, roaming performers, calligraphy workshops and rat lantern decorating with artist Gabby Loo.

“We’ve joined together in celebration of Lunar New Year to bring you a vibrant and connected event, supporting our local businesses and welcoming visitors at this exciting time of year,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“This street party celebrates the cultural diversity of our community. It is sure to be an amazing day out for the entire family, filled with great food and entertainment.

“We wish everyone a successful and joyful Year of the Rat.”
