Open Streets Events

Hosting a street event is a great way to get to know your neighbours in a fun and casual environment. The City of Vincent wants to make it as easy as possible for you to close the road and organise an event on the street, so you can focus on the best bit: meeting new people and getting to know your neighbours better. We can help with both the practical, and, in some cases, also the financial aspect of the event.

Activation Event - Local

Small events with less that 500 people may be eligible for up to $500 of funding under the City's Community Funding (inclusive of in-kind support).

Funding may be considered for:

  • Development of Traffic Control Diagrams
  • Application for Road Closure submission fee
  • Road Closure Implementation
  • Event invitations
  • Games or activities
  • Entertainment
  • Park or reserve hire (in-kind)
  • Nibblies

The applicant is responsible for the organisation, implementation and non-funded cost of the road closure should you decide to implement one.

Open Streets Event - Neighbourhood

If you are planning on hosting a neighbourhood event with between 500-1500 people your event may be eligible for funding under the City's Community Funding (inclusive of in-kind support).

Funding may be considered for:

  • Development of Traffic Control Diagrams
  • Road Closure Implementation
  • Application for Road Closure submission fee
  • Event invitations
  • Games or activities
  • Entertainment

Conditions of a Road Closure

Please note the following restrictions apply to the funding of road closures:

  • Maximum duration of 4 hours
  • Event must finish by 10pm
  • Event cannot occur on a public holiday
  • Event must be held on a local or access level road where only a simple road closure is required
