Vincent to launch e-scooter trial in Pride month

Event goers will be able to hop on an e-scooter and ride to Pride Fairday at Hyde Park when the City of Vincent's first shared e-scooter scheme launches this week.

Reputable provider Neuron Mobility (Australia), who manages e-scooters in the neighbouring City of Perth, will be delivering the trial in Vincent.

This trial will run for an initial 12 months.

Neuron will provide helmets, manage and maintain docking stations and facilitate parking and storage of e-scooters.

Speeds are capped at 25km/h on bicycle paths, shared paths and local roads, and 10km/h on footpaths and pedestrian crossings.

Geofencing will be in place to create a boundary with no-ride or park zones, for example in parks such as Hyde Park and Britannia Reserve.

Vincent is encouraging locals and visitors to hire an e-scooter and ride to Pride Fairday which is taking place on 12 November at Hyde Park, between 10am and 6pm.

“We are pleased to launch our first e-scooter trial in our neighbourhoods during Pride month.

“The introduction of e-scooters aligns with the Accessible City priority in our Strategic Community Plan, where we aim to be a leader in making it safe, easy and environmentally friendly to get around our suburbs.

“The e-scooters are equipped with safety features such as a helmet lock, 000 emergency button, topple detection and ‘Follow my Ride’ functions, which will ensure riders are protected on their journeys.”

“We are delighted to have been chosen by the City of Vincent to provide our e-scooters as part of the trial and thank them for their trust and support.

“E-scooters are already making a positive impact in the City of Perth and we look forward to expanding the riding area to Vincent which will help more locals as well as tourists travel in a safe, convenient and environmentally-friendly way.

“In Perth, we are already seeing e-scooters replace car trips and help to boost the local economy.

“Safety is our top priority - we encourage everyone to visit our ScootSafe event at Pride Fairday or to try our digital education platform, ScootSafe Academy, to learn how to use our e-scooters in a safe and responsible way.

“Coming into summer, we are reminding all of our riders to never drink and ride, to park responsibly and please wear the helmet provided on our e-scooters.”
