Noongar Culture with Marissa Verma

Come join us in the lead up to National Reconciliation Week with this special event with Marissa Verma from Bindi Bindi Dreaming. Marissa will share her knowledge of Noongar culture and cuisine, providing attendees the opportunity to join in the tasting of bush foods. All ages welcome. Marissa Verma will share with you her lifetime experiences about Noongar culture. This knowledge has been shared to her by many Elders of Noongar country and they are only too happy for her to now share with you.

In the lead up to Reconciliation Week, we are excited to invite you to join Marissa from Bindi Bindi Dreaming for a cooking session at Foyer Oxford. Marissa will teach you how to make kangaroo patties spiced with local herbs. We will then construct the ultimate burger and enjoy them together over a yarn about local Noongar culture. This event is open to people between the ages of 12 and 21.

Join us during Reconciliation Week for a free screening of Bran Nue Dae. Bran Nue Dae is an Australian musical comedy-drama that tells the story of the coming of age of an Aboriginal teenagers on a road trip in the late 1960s. Featuring Ernie Dingo, Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy, Dan Sultan, Rocky McKenzie and Geoffrey Rush this is a must see film.

Join us during Reconciliation Week for a free screening of The Sapphires. Starring Jessica Mauboy, Deborah Mailman and Chris O'Dowd, The Sapphires is an Australian musical comedy-drama. This story of four Aboriginal women that travel to Vietnam in 1968 to sing for troops during the war is sure to make you laugh, cry and sing along to some classic songs.
