A Conversation about Forced Migration with the Red Cross

A Conversation about Forced Migration with the Red Cross

Join the Australian Red Cross at the City of Vincent Library to learn about the largest refugee crisis since WWII. This presentation will outline the causes and impacts of international displacement and examine Australia's role in offering protection and resettlement to people seeking safety.

Each year, Australia provides refuge to around 20,000 people, with nearly 1,000 of those individuals settling in Perth. The session will look at the factors that drive people from their homes, the legal distinctions between refugees and asylum seekers, and what life looks like for newly arrived communities rebuilding in a new country.

This event provides a space to better understand the experiences of displaced people and the systems and supports involved in their journeys.
