ANZAC Day 2025: ANZAC Cottage
2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. While the Friends of ANZAC Cottage pay our respects to all who have played a role in defending our country, this year, they will be highlighting the women’s services that were formed and operated during this conflict.
The Women in War-themed commemoration will feature the writing of some 10-11 year old Mount Hawthorn Primary School students who have researched this topic, complemented by a compelling address that tells the story of one woman’s harrowing wartime experience in Greece.
On this day, ANZAC Cottage, at 38 Kalgoorlie Street Mt Hawthorn, will be open from 4pm to 6pm. The evocative Sunset Service will begin at 5pm and feature the popular Maori Cultural Group, Ngaru Pou, reminding us all of the “NZ” in ANZAC.
The Cottage will open for visitors to enjoy the displays and exhibitions. Children will be invited to assist us in paying tribute to the “Women in War,” and our Field of Remembrance will be on show.
