State Government Improvement Scheme for Claisebrook and Glendalough

The State Government recently announced that Claisebrook and Glendalough stations are among 10 train stations identified as part of a plan to support more housing near public transport.

The introduction of a Station Precinct Improvement Plan and Improvement Scheme would apply to land within 800 metres of selected train stations. Parts of the 800-metre catchment around Claisebrook and Glendalough stations fall within the City of Vincent.

The City of Vincent already plans for higher housing density around train stations, so the overall direction of planning in these areas is not expected to change significantly.

Importantly, there is no immediate change to planning rules or decision-making.

The State Government has released a draft Improvement Plan covering all 10 train station precincts.

A report will be presented to the City of Vincent Council at its February 2026 meetings. Council will consider a submission to the Western Australian Planning Commission about the draft Improvement Plan at the:

  • Briefing Session – 6pm on 3 February 2026
  • Council Meeting – 6pm on 10 February 2026

Visit the Council Meetings section of the website for more information about council meetings and how to participate.

The timing for the release and public consultation of the Improvement Scheme is not yet confirmed, but it is expected to occur sometime in 2026.

In the meantime, the City has created a webpage to provide current information and frequently asked questions.
