Candidate Information Session

We are holding a Candidate Information Session for prospective Council candidates on 3 September at the City Administration Building from 6pm – 8pm, to explain the role of elected members and the nomination process.

The Local Government elections will be held this October with postal voting closing Saturday 19 October. At Vincent the positions of Mayor and four Councillors are up for election, each for a four year term.

“The information session is for people who are considering standing in our local elections to let them know about the election process and the roles and responsibilities of elected members,” said City of Vincent CEO David MacLennan.

The session will include presentations from the CEO, the WA Electoral Commission, the Returning Officer and some current Councillors to share their experiences.

To be eligible to nominate for the Council elections, you must be on the electoral roll for the City (resident or owner/occupier).

Residents who are on the State Electoral Roll are automatically enrolled to vote. If you have recently moved to Vincent, enrolment forms will be accepted until 5pm, Friday 30 August 2019.

Full information and a nomination pack for candidates is available from the City’s website or the WA Electoral Commission website. Nominations for candidates are open between 5 – 12 September.

To talk to someone about nominating for Council, contact mail@vincent.wa.gov.au or call 9273 6000.
