All subdivision/amalgamation of land in Western Australia is controlled by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). Persons who wish to apply for subdivision/amalgamation of lots are required to lodge an application through the WAPC.

Once a subdivision/amalgamation application has been lodged with the WAPC it is referred to the relevant government agencies who are given 42 days to comment on the application. The City of Vincent provides comments and conditions as well as providing a recommendation to the WAPC.

Once an application has been approved by the WAPC, the applicant is able to apply to the relevant government agencies to clear the conditions of Subdivision Approval. The fee structure for clearances is based on the number of lots to be cleared and can be found in the fees and charges.
