To celebrate WA Bike Month this month The City of Vincent are gearing up for a number of fun cycle events.

The annual celebration of bike riding is a great reminder to hop on your bike and embrace the many health benefits of cycling.

Whether you’re a cycling enthusiast, casual rider or beginner – The City of Vincent encourages you to get peddling.

On Tuesday October 26, Vincent is hosting a free community breakfast for locals cycling to work or school.

From 6.30am local riders can make a pit stop at the picturesque Banks Reserve in Mount Lawley and enjoy a delicious breaky and coffee on us.

Another popular event to get pumped about is our much loved Bike Market on Saturday October 30 at Barlee Street carpark in Mount Lawley.

Held in conjunction with charity Bicycles for Humanity the event runs from 9am-12noon and will feature a collection of stallholders selling racing bikes, choppers, regular bikes for all ages, bike accessories and clothing.

Mayor Emma Cole said stallholder fees at the market will go towards Bicycles for Humanity.

“We have a great relationship with Bicycles for Humanity WA who help us run the Bike Market and we are really pleased to support them again,’’ she said.

“The fantastic charity sends donated bikes to some of the world’s poorest areas to help alleviate poverty and provide easy to use transport.

“Bike Month is a great reminder to consider hopping on your bike for your next short trip around Vincent.

“You could also leave the car keys at home and enjoy a ride into work or a grab a few friends and ride to school.

“Jumping on your bike is great for your health and allows easy access to our many local businesses.

“Bike parking is super easy and free.”

Additional bike events include a free Bike Maintenance Workshop on Thursday October 28 between 4-6pm at our administration building.

The basic level course is designed to give people the skills to maintain their bikes.

The registered event has a maximum of 10 participants so get in early to avoid disappointment.

There will also be a Big Bike Film Night at Luna Cinema on Tuesday 19 October from 6.30pm - 8.50pm.

The unofficial Bike Month event is touring Australia and will showcase some of the best cycling movies from around the world.
