Brigatti Gardens Playground

Brigatti Gardens is a little inner-city oasis located on the corner of Broome and Wright Streets in Highgate. This beautiful tree covered park has a playground, barbecue and plenty of shade, perfect for relaxing, spending time with family or casual exercise.

The playground is due for renewal, and in July and August 2025, we asked for feedback on the play elements people would like to see there.

We heard most people:

  • wanted the play equipment to be suitable for 4-8 yrs and/or mixed ages
  • preferred a spread-out layout that included slides, swings and climbing equipment
  • would accept mixed softfall and natural/existing shade only in order to have more equipment.

Nature play was also a common theme, and this is reflected in the wooden elements of both design options.

In November, we asked the community which design options they preferred for the new Brigatti Gardens Playground.

We can now let you know that the community preference was for Design Option Two - Double Tower.

The main attraction is the Double Tower with Valley Bridge including slide, climbing wall and net, curly and rock climber, inside seat and coconut rope bridge, plus:

  • Tipi carousel
  • Sitting pole steppers
  • Stilts (carved foot steps)
  • Up and over net
  • Swing (baby seat and flat seat)
  • Play panel (music)
  • Percussion music panel (drums, percussion play)

The playground is currently in production, with installation expected to commence around March/April 2026.

This upgrade will be funded through the City's 2025/26 Capital Works budget and work is due to be completed in the 2025/26 financial year.
