NOTICE OF INTENTION TO LEVY DIFFERENTIAL RATES

The City of Vincent is currently advertising the proposed differential rates and minimum payments until 5pm Friday, 11 June 2021.

This rating proposal won’t be formally determined until Council considers community feedback and adoption the budget, currently due to happen in late June.

The current proposal considers:

2.4% increase for residential ratepayers (Administration recommended 2.9% but Council reduced this to 2.4% for advertising).
Zero rate increase for commercial ratepayers.

Why the difference? Next financial year, Vincent rolls out the new 3 bin Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) system and a new Verge Valet to residents at a total cost of $1.3M.

At the same time, the City of Vincent’s Commercial waste service is due to end on June 30, 2021.

The City of Vincent will freeze commercial rates for the second financial year in a row, plus provide commercial ratepayers with a rebate of about $520 each in recognition of this service change and to facilitate the transition to private waste providers.

Vincent is ranked 6th out of 29 metro councils on its average rates payable per dollar.
