North Perth kids will be spoilt for choice at a fresh playground at Haynes Street Reserve.

As part of the City of Vincent’s Haynes Street Reserve Development Plan, the lot 31 Sydney Street has been transformed into public open space.

The all-ages playground, located at the corner of Sydney and Haynes streets, is the first area of the reserve to be open to the public.

Main features of the playground include a log scramble, cubby with a slide and a rope climb, basket swing, tight ropes, stilt steppers and limestone boulders.

Deputy Mayor Susan Gontaszewski said the new playground was something the North Perth community had been wanting for a long time.

“Our Public Open Space Strategy found we did not have enough parks in North Perth so we wanted to create more parkland for the residents,” she said.

“The playground is just the beginning of our journey to bringing Haynes Street Reserve to life.

“I am excited to see local children pop down to their new neighbourhood park to enjoy the nature play and all abilities equipment.”

Vincent will also add grassed areas, garden beds and native plants around the reserve.
