The health and safety of patrons is paramount and the leisure centre will operate in accordance with a COVID Safety Plan. Water quality samples have been given the tick of approval ahead of the re-opening.

The introduction of the Government’s ‘phase two’ roadmap restrictions and trial of the new operations will run until Friday 5 June, with staff carefully monitoring safety procedures to ensure the wellbeing of patrons.

Any changes will be revised and implemented in line with additional health advice and Government roadmap announcements.

“We know how much community members have missed Beatty Park and the staff have missed them, too,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“Since the announcement of the easing of restrictions, the team have been urgently working through the logistics of re-opening and it is our priority to provide a safe environment for all patrons and staff.

“There has been so much happening behind the scenes since the doors closed, with deep cleaning, painting and maintenance keeping our team busy.

“We wanted to make sure Beatty Park was looking its best for the re-opening. The water is looking beautiful and the centre is sparkling clean.

“We are very excited to welcome our members back through the doors next Thursday and start being part of the community again.”

The centre will initially operate in a trial phase to ensure we can support the areas that are operational. These areas are;

  • Reception area and retail store
  • 25m Indoor Pool
  • 50m Outdoor pool
  • Group Fitness Studio 1

There will be separate entrances for group fitness classes and the pools to allow for physical distancing and the safe flow of customers.

Signs will be erected at entrances to help with navigation and only 20 patrons (not including staff) will be allowed in each zone during a session.

Other operational trial-phase changes include:

  • The centre will initially be open to current members. This is to ensure all users are contactable for tracing purposes as per the COVID Safe Plan. Memberships will remain on payment suspension during the trial operation phase.
  • The centre will be open Monday to Friday on the reduced hours of 8am to 4.30pm. It will remain closed on weekends and on the WA Day public holiday on Monday 1 June.
  • An online booking system will be introduced for all scheduled time slots, including pool and group fitness sessions. Members who want to attend during the trial operation phase will be able to book up to 24hrs before the session starts.
  • Entry to swimming sessions will only be permitted five minutes before the start time.
  • Entry to group fitness sessions will only be permitted 10 minutes before the start time.
  • Pool sessions will be available for 1hr blocks, with a 30 minute break in between for cleaning.
  • Limited group fitness classes will be available with a timetable of four sessions per day. These sessions will be 45 minutes long, allowing appropriate cleaning to take place between each class. Entry for fitness classes will only be through Studio 2.
  • Aqua fitness classes will be held three times a week in the outdoor 50m pool.
  • Toilets in the centre will be open, but change rooms will be closed. Please come ready to swim or for your class.
  • The café will remain closed.
  • Contactless payment will be preferred. If you are unable to use EFTPOS facilities, cash
    will be accepted.
