From handmade gifts to homemade dog treats, there will be something for everyone at the City of Vincent’s upcoming Young Makers Christmas Market.
The market is an opportunity for young people aged between 6 and 25 years to hold stalls and sell their handmade creations and treats.
The Christmas edition will be held on Sunday 3 December and spread out across North Perth Main Hall, Lesser Hall and the Multicultural Gardens.
A wide range of gifts will be available for purchase, including baked goods, dog treats, decorations, cards, candles, soaps, jewellery, clothing, baby items, artwork and pot plants.
Young buskers will be performing their acoustic Christmas tunes throughout the day.
Several stallholders who attended the Mother’s Day market in April will be making a comeback.
Returning stallholder Evelyn said she liked atmosphere of the market and the chance to make some money to buy presents for others.
“I love the Christmas fun and feeling at the markets — everyone is so happy and it is great to think of ideas to sell to people,” she said.
“This year, I will be selling bracelets, flowers and some homemade Christmas decorations.”
In a record-breaking feat, there will be about 100 stallholders at the December markets.
This trumps the previous record of 72 stalls at both this year’s Mother’s Day and last year’s Christmas markets.
“Our Young Makers Markets are always a hit with the community and our enterprising young people,” said Mayor Alison Xamon.
“There will be a wide range of special items on offer this year, with a a record number of sellers expected.
“I am looking forward to seeing what Vincent’s young people have prepared and I encourage our community to come along and find some unique gifts.”
The market supports the City of Vincent Youth Action Plan as it provides opportunities for young people to be actively involved in their community.
