The City of Vincent is looking for community members with a special interest in the arts, youth issues and sustainability and transport to provide advice and generate ideas for the future.

Nominations are now open for our Arts Advisory Group, Children and Young People Advisory Group and Sustainability and Transport Advisory Group.

This follows on from recent appointments of community representatives to the City’s Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group.

“We have so many talented and knowledgeable people in our community and we want to draw on their experience and learn from them as we move forward,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“The people who join our advisory groups have the chance to help shape the future of Vincent.

“Our Arts Advisory Group plays an important role in encouraging and promoting arts in our community, especially when it comes to public art projects and Percent for Art acquisitions.

“The Children and Young People Advisory Group is there to advocate for our youth and help us identify and explore how we can address the needs of people below the age of 25.

“Those who join the Sustainability and Transport Advisory Group will provide us with valuable advice on a range of issues, including how we implement the Sustainable Environmental Strategy, the Greening Plan and the Bike Network Plan.”

The City is looking for up to 10 community members for the Arts Advisory Group. Expertise from all artforms is sought, including – but not limited to - visual arts, performance, literature, music, photography, film and new media. We encourage nominations from young people, emerging artists and people who are culturally and linguistically diverse or Aboriginal.

Up to six people with experience in youth issues are wanted for the Children and Young People Advisory Group. We are looking for up to 10 people with experience or specialist knowledge in environmental, sustainability and/or transport issues for the Sustainability and Transport Advisory Group. This group will replace the Urban Mobility and Environmental Advisory Groups and the names and terms of reference will be discussed at the first meeting.

Nominations are for the period of 28 July 2020 to 16 October 2021. They close on 29 June.

The City is also currently hosting regular meetings with town team representatives to help drive business support initiatives and inform our approach to economic recovery during and beyond COVID-19.
