Open Street Event Requirements

Step 1 - Contact our Community Partnerships Team

Now that you’ve determined that your event classifies as an Open Streets Event, we can help you start organising.

Please contact our Community Partnerships Team first, before starting your application. Call 9273 6000 or email community.partnerships@vincent.wa.gov.au.

Step 2 - Ask your Neighbours for Permission

Ask your neighbours for permission. If you need to close your street for your event, you will need approval from a 2/3 majority of the people on your street.

To help you out, we have created an occupier (neighbour) consent form and notification form for you to use.

Step 3 - Complete the Order for Road Closure Application

Download and complete the Application for Order for Road Closure.

Application for Order for Road Closure

Contact the City so we can sign your Application for Order for Road Closure.

Step 4 - Submit your Application for Order for Road Closure to the WA Police

Submit your Application for Order for Road Closure to the WA Police.

To review your application the WA Police will need:

  • Application for Order for Road Closure signed by the City.
  • Proof of occupier (neighbour) consents.
  • Payment of the applicable fee. Keep the receipt because we can refund this.

Does your street look like any of the roads in these traffic control diagrams?

Then feel free to use our traffic management diagrams for the road closure.

If the road closure is more complex, or involves an intersection, traffic control signals or bus route, you must get a Traffic Management Plan prepared by an accredited company.

To get help finding an accredited company, contact the Community Partnerships team on 9273 6000 or email community.partnerships@vincent.wa.gov.au.

Step 5 - Upload and Complete the Online Application Form

Now that you have all the documents prepared, it’s time to submit your final plans to us.
