Verge Collections

For the financial year (2019/20), the City will continue to undertake scheduled verge collection services as outlined below:

  • Two Green Waste Verge Collections (October/November 2019 and March/April 2020)
  • One General Household Bulk Verge Collection (February/March 2020)

Additional information regarding presentation and collection times, accepted items and collection area maps will be advertised closer to the date.

Please note - The City’s Bulk Waste Collection Services are currently under review.  This is to assist the City in delivering our Waste Strategy’s ambitious target of zero waste to landfill by 2028.

Under this Strategy, we are reviewing all our waste practices, including junk waste collections, to maximise waste avoidance, reuse and recycling and to minimise materials going to landfill.

No decision will be made to change the service without first consulting with our community. City residents will have the opportunity to have their say in the coming months on bulk verge collections, once more information is available.

Verge collection tips

  • Please do not put items out for collection earlier than the advertised presentation date for your area, as you could be fined for littering
  • All material left out for collection must be kept clear of reticulation, footpaths, street signs, poles and fences
  • In locations where your verge is very small or consisting of footpaths only, green waste is to be put out as close to commencement of collection as possible so any footpath obstruction is kept to a minimum

Waste collection is a major cost for the City of Vincent and therefore our ratepayers too. Failure to comply with the above conditions may result in the deposited material not being collected, or possibly an infringement. If we do not collect an item from your verge, we’ll let you know why via a flyer in your letterbox.

On demand waste collection

In addition to the City’s existing general bulk waste verge collection (scheduled for February 2020), Vincent residents can also use a paid pick-up service for mattresses and white goods - these items will be recycled!

Did you know?

Loose leaf litter, grass clippings and small prunings can be placed in your green lid bin. These materials will be collected for composting at the Neerabup Composting Facility.

White goods can be also dropped off at the Recycling Centre in Balcatta (scrap metal) for free (except fridges where a fees apply). More information can be found here: Recycling Centre Balcatta
