Nuanced Encounters to Light Up Leederville

A striking new public artwork ‘Nuanced Encounters’ by local artist Adam Cruickshank, is set to light up Leederville thanks to the City’s Arts Rebound initiative.

The initiative aims to support Vincent’s local arts industry and community by delivering public realm artworks which encourages and supports social interaction, creativity and vibrancy.

The ‘Nuanced Encounters’ concept design is vibrant and dynamic, reflecting the diverse and progressive Leederville community.

The artwork will hang above the path at the entrance to the pedestrian laneway next to Kailis on Oxford Street, creating a statement for residents and visitors coming into the area at night. It features a dynamic display of light and colour with programmable light shows, casting bold patterns on the ground.

This location will be trialled following site challenges at the initial Leederville Village Square median location.

Installation will start at 10pm on Monday, 28 April, and is planned to be complete by Thursday, 1 May 2025.

Following the installation, the City will consider whether to keep the artwork in the laneway permanently or return to the original median location in future if the site challenges can be resolved.
