National Reconciliation Week | Noongar Six Seasons with Marissa Verma

Past Event

Over the next 12 months, we will be holding six free workshops to celebrate each of the Noongar Six Seasons. Marissa Verma from Bindi Bindi Dreaming will facilitate each of the six sessions, held at outdoor locations during the warmer months and at the Vincent Library in the colder weather. Bush food catering will be provided and attendees will learn about the flora and fauna associated with each season, and how Noongar people traditionally lived by following the Six Season calendar.

Workshop 1 | Djeran

The first workshop will be held at the Vincent Library, and if weather permits the group will move outside to Keith Frame Reserve. During this workshop, Marissa will share her knowledge about the Noongar Season Djeran. Djeran runs from April - May and sees a break in the very hot weather. The change in the season is evident in the wind with seeds, dust and leaves blown across the landscape.

Registration for this free event is essential and can be made by booking your free ticket via Eventbrite here. Afternoon tea is included.
