Transport Assistance

The City assists Senior residents who hold an aged pension or seniors health care card or younger people who hold a disability support pension card on the various transport options that are available.

There are several organisations which you can contact directly to arrange your transport.   If you would like assistance with a referral please contact the City.

The Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre

Criteria: A single point of access for information on aged and community care, disability services, mental health services and other support services to assist people to live independently in the community. Purpose: medical, social, hospital, shopping, transport assistance

Taxi Users Subsidy Scheme

The Taxi Users' Subsidy Scheme (TUSS) provides taxi travel at a reduced rate for people who have a severe disability that will always prevent them using a conventional public transport bus service.

Criteria: Have a severe disability that will always prevent you using a conventional public transport bus service and the disability is required to be continual and fall within the categories of severe mobility disability, severe vision disability (legal blindness) or severe cognitive/intellectual disability.

Veterans Affairs Transport

Criteria: Repatriation Health Care Card holders

Purpose: medical - to specialist appointments or to public hospitals for admissions or procedures.  Referral is gained from the GP and an application made.
