Greening Vincent Garden Competition

Every year, residents and businesses are invited to participate in the City’s annual Greening Vincent Garden Competition.

All gardens will be judged against waterwise criteria and controlled use of fertilisers and pesticides.

There are great prizes to be won and all entrants will be invited to the awards evening presented by Mayor Emma Cole.

What are we looking?

In keeping with the City’s commitment to environmental sustainability, all gardens will be judged against waterwise criteria (including use of native plants, mulch and other water saving measures) and demonstrated controlled use of pesticides and chemical fertilisers.

Entrants in the Best Small Space Garden will also be judged against creative use of space and incorporation of landscaping features.

FAQ

What are the award categories?

Awards is presented in the following categories:

  • Best Residential Front or Rear Garden
  • Best Vincent Verge
  • Best Waterwise Native Garden
  • Best Small Space Garden

What is the judging process?

Information and photos provided with your entry form will be used to undertake preliminary judging of each category. Only gardens selected for final judging will be viewed in person.

Finalists will be notified, with final judging to be carried out by the Parks Team.

What are the prizes and awards?

Last year, the prizes where:

  • First Prize: $500 in vouchers
  • Second Prize: $100 in vouchers & small gift
  • Third Prize: small gift

All entrants will be invited to a function night at The Old Laundry On Wednesday 16 November 2022 at 6.00pm, where the awards will be presented by Mayor Emma Cole.

What are the condition of entry?

  • Occupiers of premises entered must have been the residents for at least six (6) months before judging takes place.
  • No award shall be made unless at least six (6) entries are received in that category.
  • Only properties within the City of Vincent may be nominated.
  • Previous year First Prize winners are ineligible for this years' awards. 
  • The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence to be entered into once the decision is made.

Can I enter in multiple categories?

Yes you can. You simply need to complete this form multiple times if you would like to enter more than one category.
