We have released our new Arts Development Action Plan that outlines art projects the City will focus on over the next 2 years.
“The plan covers both visual and performing arts and sets our vision to embed creativity in everything we do. We want to make City of Vincent the arts capital of Perth,” said Mayor Emma Cole.
“Art is something our community is very passionate about. Members of our talented Arts Advisory Group drafted the Arts Development Action Plan and many of the actions and ideas came directly from our community during the Imagine Vincent community engagement. Art was a subject that came up repeatedly in conversations with residents,” said Mayor Cole.
Some of the highlights of the plan include creating a Jazz Precinct in Northbridge, a Guerrilla Arts Project pilot, commissioning a major public artwork as an entry statement, establishing an artist co-working space and seeking an Aboriginal artist to be a part of the Arts Advisory Group.
The plan continues the great work the City is already doing in mural and public arts, including a review of the developer-funded Percent for Art policy. It will also focus on existing projects like the City’s community concerts and music partnerships.
“The Arts Development Action Plan is a two year plan that paves the way for a larger five year Arts Strategy that will launch in 2020,” said Mayor Cole.
“We believe it builds on the creative work we are already doing in Arts and lays the foundation for greater things to come,” she said.
