We are proud to announce that Vincent has won the Community Development Award at the 2018 International Association for Public Participation Australasia (IAP2) Awards Ceremony held this week on the Gold Coast.

This international award recognises projects and organisations that are at the forefront of public participation and demonstrate evidence that the seven IAP2 core values are embedded within their organisations.

“Imagine Vincent was the biggest community engagement initiative in our history and a project we are all proud of. It wasn’t about ticking a box or doing a standard government consultation; it was about genuinely engaging with the Vincent community. We were determined to talk to as many people from every walk of life in venues across Vincent and we had a fantastic time in the process.", said Mayor Emma Cole.

“It really was a collaboration between Council and community, so this is great feedback from the engagement sector. We look forward to receiving the Award when it makes its way over from the Gold Coast.”, she said.

CEO David MacLennan said, “This is fantastic recognition for Imagine Vincent – a collaborative campaign. The ideas and feedback received were used to formulate recommendations which fed directly into the development of the City’s Strategic Community Plan 2018-2028, which was unanimously adopted by Council on 16 October 2018”.

We would like to thank IAP2 for the award and their excellent work in the realm of public participation, Shape Urban for their help in delivering Imagine Vincent and the Vincent community for their ongoing participation and support.
