Vincent events are back

The City of Vincent is opening up a special round of festival and event funding to encourage community connection, boost the local economy and support the performing arts.

Event organisers can now apply for up to $15,000 to hold free events in Vincent before July next year.

The City’s annual expression of interest for festival and event grant funding was delayed last financial year because of COVID-19 health restrictions.

But with the focus now on recovery, the City is re-introducing event funding as part of its plan to support economic and community rebound.

“We are open for business in Vincent and we are also open for events,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“We have been reviewing our budget quarterly and one of our priorities was to re-introduce event funding as soon as possible so we could support community connection and economic rebound.

“We want our community members to have the chance connect safely and enjoy the cultural experiences that they missed so much during the lockdown period.

“It’s been so wonderful to see people enjoying local events like Jazz Picnic in the Park, the Young Makers Market and Arty Farty Street Party in recent weeks.

“Festivals and events are such an important part of what makes Vincent a lively and vibrant place to live and visit, and we are so excited to be able to offer sponsorship again.”

The funding can be put towards traffic management, staging, audio visual and structures, performers, entertainers and activities, art activations, marketing and promotion and toilet hire.

Event organisers will have to provide a COVID Safety Plan for events with less than 500 people, and a COVID Event Plan for larger events.

Another round of funding will open in January for events to be held in the next financial year.

Applications can be submitted online at vincent.wa.gov.au from 11 December.
