RAGLAN & CHELMSFORD ROAD’S CAR PARK LIGHTING UPGRADE PROJECT

Published on Friday, 15 June 2018 at 1:36:03 PM

The existing car park lighting was installed in the 1980’s and is now unreliable, ‘old’ technology and very difficult to find part replacements for when it does breaks down. The lighting also does not conform to current standards and is of poor energy efficiency. For these reasons the City is looking to upgrade the lighting to more efficient LED lamps which will provide better illumination at a lower cost.

The works were scheduled to be undertaken in the coming weeks, for which you would have received an advanced notification. However, the City’s contractor, Powerlux WA, has advised that they are now in a position to commence works from Monday 18 June 2018.

While the City apologises for the late notice it is an opportunity to improve the car park lighting sooner than expected.

In order to undertake the project in an orderly manner sections of the car park will be progressively blocked off to provide a safe work zone for both the public and the contractors alike. The City’s Rangers will barricade off the work areas on daily basis starting at the Raglan Road end and working towards Chelmsford Road. Once the car park lighting is completed and fully operational the lights in Raglan and Grosvenor Roads will then be replaced with new poles and LED lighting.

To enable the works to proceed smoothly all parking in barricaded off areas will be unavailable while the works are in progress. However, as each ‘cell’ is completed the parking will be restored and the work zone shifted to the next 'cell’. The entire project will take several weeks to complete.

The City’s intention is to provide the community with an improved level of service and a safer environment and we thank you for your patience.
