Proposed parking restrictions - Broome Street and Wright Street, Highgate

Published on Friday, 27 November 2020 at 1:27:00 PM

As part of our decision making process, we'd like to know what you think about the possible introduction of timed parking restrictions on sections of Broome and Wright Streets in Highgate.

Over the past several months, the City has spoken to a number of residents about their concerns in regards to parking in sections of Highgate.

Currently there are no parking restrictions in sections of Broome and Wright Streets, unlike the majority of the surrounding streets.

Due to the increased parking demand generated by recent developments in the area and evidence of Perth City commuters using these streets for free all day parking, we are proposing to introduce time restrictions as a means of better controlling parking availability.

The following changes are proposed:

Broome Street, from Lord Street to Smith Street: Three hour time restriction (3P) between 8am - 5.30pm, Monday - Friday (currently unrestricted).

Wright Street, from Lincoln Street to Harold Street: Three hour time restriction (3P) between 8am - 5.30pm, Monday - Friday (currently unrestricted).

Please note, under the proposed restrictions:

  • The HBF Stadium residents-only restrictions during events would remain.
  • Resident and visitor vehicles would be eligible for parking permits exempting you from the restrictions. The City is in the process of rolling out a new e-Permit system that would apply should the proposed restrictions be approved. More info on e-Permits can be found on the City's website here.

Comments are invited on the proposed parking restrictions on Broome and Wright Streets until 11 December 2020. You can share your thoughts by:
