Commencing 30 May 2017, the City will be live streaming its Council Briefings and Meetings to facilitate transparency and accountability of the Council decision making process.

At its Ordinary Council Meeting on 7 March 2017, Council made the decision to live stream future Council Briefings and Council Meetings. The live streaming of Council Meetings is just the latest initiative to be delivered as part of the CIty's strategic priorities for 2016/17 which included "Leading Local Government Transparency and Accountability. In addition to demonstrating openness and transparency, one of the key aims of implementing live streaming Council Meetings is to increase the potential for the participation of the community in the Council Meeting process.

The City has adopted Policy 4.2.4 - Council Meetings - Recording and Web Streaming which sets out how the live streaming will operate. Among other things, it deals with potential privacy concerns by not streaming Public Question Time and positioning the cameras so that the public gallery will not be captured.

The live stream will be available on the City's website here from 6pm on Tuesday 30 May 2017 and then during any future meeting of Council. Why not check out?
