Imagine your community without a beautiful Hyde Park, a pedestrian-friendly Leederville or a state-of-the art Beatty Park Leisure Centre.
Would you be as inclined to head out for a walk, meet up with friends for coffee or exercise if they didn’t exist?
These areas are some of the many provided and maintained by the City of Vincent that support the health and wellbeing of our community.
The City is increasingly aiming to build healthy, connected and resilient communities and as part of this we are developing a Public Health Plan for the future.
The plan will help ensure the City delivers services and programs that positively impact mental health and social wellbeing.
To get the ball rolling, we are inviting Vincent residents to have their say about the things that impact their health, wellbeing and quality of life.
“We play a big role in creating environments that support healthy living and quality of life,” said Mayor Emma Cole.
“This starts with our core business – things like maintaining parks and playgrounds, building safe footpaths, managing waste, minimising environmental hazards and running the library and Beatty Park Leisure Centre.
“We also encourage healthy lifestyles through initiatives like Pop Up Play, which are designed to inspire kids to use parks and play spaces more creatively and freely.
“We have created activated spaces like Leederville Village Square, and have beautiful parks and popular reserves where people can connect and feel part of a community.”
Consultation for the Public Health Plan will run throughout March and will include an online survey and a community workshop on Thursday 19 March from 6.00pm - 8.00pm at the City of Vincent Administration Centre.
The aim is to find out the current health status of our community, determine how the operations of the City affect or promote public health and identify local priorities.
Those who fill in the online survey will be in the running to win a one-month membership to Beatty Park Leisure Centre.
To share your thoughts and RSVP for the community workshop, go to Imagine Vincent or contact us on 9273 6000 or mail@vincent.wa.gov.au
