Expression of Interest - Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training

Published on Wednesday, 18 April 2018 at 2:27:08 PM

The City of Vincent is inviting submissions from suitable organisations to conduct Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training on the City of Vincent’s behalf as part of our commitment to reconciliation.  This is a specific action within our Reconciliation Action Plan.

This Cultural Awareness training is being introduced to increase Council Member and employee knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, achievements and opportunities. In particular, we would like all employees to understand the significance of the land and the water within the City of Vincent.

The training will be provided to all Council Members and employees  with the training plans, content and logistics coordinated by the HR Manager, Jackie Donnan, and Community Partner, Gayatrii Surendorff, with support from Nyoongar Outreach Services.

It is anticipated that the training will be conducted over many sessions to ensure all 260 employees and 9 Council Members are included. The City is open to all concepts of training styles, and would like to include options for using sites of significance within the City of Vincent for training locations, as well as options for self-paced online learning.

When providing your submission please also include your method for identifying training needs, your experience in delivering similar cultural awareness sessions, and other relevant information for the City’s consideration.  Submissions can be sent to jackie.donnan@vincent.wa.gov.au and must be received by 27th April 2018.
