COVID-19: City of Vincent Facilities

Important community information regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and City of Vincent facilities.

Beatty Park Leisure Centre

Beatty Park Leisure Centre has been reviewing and changing its operations in response to the Federal Government’s announcement today on COVID-19.

The Federal Government’s advice was that gyms, indoor fitness centres and swimming pools do not need to close at this time – as long as they follow social distancing advice, have no more than 100 people in a single enclosed space and have good cleaning practices in place.

Beatty Park has been implementing social distancing strategies and additional cleaning.

We will continue to monitor adherence to the requirements on social distancing, numbers of patrons within enclosed areas and implement improvements where required to provide the safest possible environment for our patrons.

Beatty Park Swim School, Crèche, Spa and Sauna have been closed with immediate effect.

The health and safety of our members, customers and staff is our highest concern at this time. Beatty Park will provide regular updates to patrons on the changing situation.

City of Vincent Library and Loftus Community Centre

The Library and Local History Centre and the Loftus Community Centre will remain open at this time but without events.

All programs and events in these facilities have been cancelled with our particular concern for the number of seniors who use these facilities.

The Library will look to add additional homebound services for library users.

Comments from City of Vincent Mayor Emma Cole:

“We understand how important these community hubs are to residents and members,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“The health and safety of our community, customers and staff is our number one priority.

“We are closely following the advice and acting immediately on direction from health authorities.

“We want to continue to encourage wellbeing activities and access to our services in the community during this difficult time as long as it is safe to do so.

“It is important that we rise to this challenge and get through it together. This is a time when we really need to look out for each other.

“We will continue to provide updates on a regular basis on the status of our services and facilities. Good communication is crucial at this time.”

Loftus Recreation Centre

The City of Vincent is in discussions with Belgravia Leisure – the manager of the Loftus Recreation Centre – on its response to the Federal Government’s announcement today.

The social sports competition has been cancelled due to the social distancing requirements. All other services remain open.
