Costa in town to talk edible gardens on public land

Mayor Emma Cole and members of the North Perth Community Garden met with Costa from Gardening Australia and the founders of Urban Food Street to talk about the benefits of community gardens and edible verges in the City of Vincent.

Costa is a strong supporter of growing edible gardens on public land and is in town to promote this rising movement.

Vincent is active in supporting local gardens with our annual Garden Competition, the community garden in North Perth and an Adopt a Verge program to create more green space in the City.

We are currently in the process of reviewing our verge policy to allow more edible verges and working with local community group Transition Town Vincent to create a Community Composting Hub in Mt Hawthorn.

To find out more about community gardens and gardening on your verge, contact the City of Vincent on 9273 6000.

If you are a keen gardener and would like to enter the 2017 Greening Vincent Garden Competition, download the application form from our website.
