City of Vincent South Ward election results

Voting for the City of Vincent South Ward elections ended today. Congratulations to Cr Susan Gontaszewski and Ashley Wallace who will join Mayor Emma Cole, Cr Dan Loden and Sally Smith for a four year term on Vincent Council.

Mayor Emma Cole ran unopposed and there were only two candidates for North Ward to fill the two vacant positions, Cr Dan Loden and Sally Smith. In the South Ward there were six candidates for two vacancies. The full results of the election count were:

South Ward:

  • Ashley Wallace – 1,263
  • Susan Gontaszewski – 1,430
  • David McDermont - 451
  • Joshua O’Keefe – 1,194
  • Peter Le - 421
  • Adina Lieblich – 1,053

There will be a swearing in ceremony at 6pm on Tuesday 22 October at Council Chambers, followed by a special council meeting to elect the Deputy Mayor and appoint Elected Members to represent the City on the Tamala Park Regional Council, Mindarie Regional Council and WALGA Central Metropolitan Zone. Members of the public are welcome to attend both the swearing in ceremony and special council meeting.

“I would like warmly welcome the new Councillors Sally Smith and Ashley Wallace to our team and congratulate Cr Dan Loden and Cr Susan Gontaszewski who were successful in retaining their positions,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“We have a fantastic team at Vincent and a positive and cohesive Council. I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with all our Elected Members.

“All candidates who ran should be commended for stepping forward and putting their hand up for community service. We thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best,” she said.
