Amendments to Local Planning Policy - Signs and Advertising

Published on Friday, 18 February 2022 at 12:00:00 PM

The City of Vincent is seeking the public's views on proposed amendments to the Local Planning Policy - Signs and Advertising.

The policy's general objective is to provide clear direction on acceptable sign design and to streamline the application process for business advertising.

Last year, the City engaged with the community in respect to business signage and advertising.

This engagement helped the City to better understand the community’s attitude to issues such as third party advertising, large format signs, window signs and advertising material more generally.

Proposed amendments, which were a result of valuable feedback, include streamlining the planning process to allow up to four signs (more for larger tenancies) without the need for planning approval, prohibit third party advertising and signs that promoted alcohol, smoking and unhealthy food on City-owned land, limiting advertising on smoking and tobacco related premises and streamlining community event and sponsorship signs.

If approved by Council, the policy will apply to all signs on privately owned land including business signs.

Share your thoughts on the proposal through an online survey here.

Feedback is invited until 19 March.
