2021 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION RESULTS

Vincent’s Local Government Elections were held on Saturday 16 October; the full results can be viewed on the WA Electoral Commission website.

There were five positions to be filled in this year’s Local Government Elections in The City of Vincent.

• Councillor (North Ward) - 3 positions (2 x 4 year terms, 1 x 2 year term)
• Councillor (South Ward) - 2 positions (4 year terms)

Here's a summary of the results:

NORTH WARD

There were 6 candidates contesting 3 Councillor vacancies

CASTLE, Alex was re-elected with 1821 votes (21.02%) - 4 year term until 18 October 2025

ALEXANDER, Ron was elected with 1775 votes (20.49%) - 4 year term until 18 October 2025

WORNER, Suzanne was elected with votes 1564 (18.05%) - 2 year term until 21 October 2023

SOUTH WARD

There were 6 candidates contesting 2 Councillor vacancies

HALLETT, Jonathan was re-elected with 1437 votes (24.83%)

IOPPOLO, Ross was elected 979 votes (16.92%)

Both candidates will serve a 4 year term until 18 October 2025.

A formal swearing in ceremony of newly elected Council Members will take place on Tuesday October 19 at 6pm at the City’s

Administration and Civic Centre – 244 Vincent Street, Leederville, following a smoking ceremony at 5.30pm.

A Special Council Meeting at 6.30pm will elect a Deputy Mayor (by secret ballot) and to nominate Council Member representatives to various non-council bodies and committees.

Local government elections are held every two years, on the third Saturday in October.

The Mayor and Council Members are each elected for four year terms, with half of the elected members being elected every biennial election.

The City of Vincent Council is made up of nine Elected Members:
• Mayor - represents the entire district;
• Council Members – North Ward (4); and
• Council Members – South Ward (4).
