A Message from the Mayor

Dear Vincent ratepayer,

At the heart of Vincent’s budget is a focus on building an even more connected community with a strong and sustainable future.

It’s so important that the priorities of today benefit our community now and for the years ahead. That’s why our focus this year includes:

  • creating more inviting parks and open spaces for our growing population
  • building better connections between our neighbourhoods, like safer pedestrian crossings
  • a new cash back initiative for residents who take up the challenge of reducing waste.

Once again, Vincent’s budget has been built with help from our community - 55 community submissions were received and many have been included.

We will continue to deliver the signature programs that make Vincent a vibrant and inclusive place to be – like our greening plan, supporting creative arts, events and festivals and building community partnerships.

With tougher economic times, strong financial management is critical. The majority of Vincent’s fees and charges are maintained at last year’s levels and some, like booking your local hall, cost less.

And with a modest rate increase, Vincent ratepayers will continue to experience one of the lowest levels of rating in the metro area.

Our ongoing focus on financial sustainability and transparency has seen the journey of reform continue. Quite simply, there is always more to be done!

And we will continue to look to the future, with Imagine Vincent inviting your views on the course of Vincent over the next 10 years. This will ensure we’re headed to where our community wants us to be.

Yours sincerely,

Mayor Emma Cole
