Mark Ames - How to build community support for walking, cycling and public space initiatives

Past Event

A talk by Mark Ames, Strategic Cities, Sydney

Are you eager to do things to make your community more successful, safer and liveable, but are worried about public opposition?

Whether it’s building bike lanes, lowering traffic speeds or modifying car parking arrangements, Mark Ames from Sydney-based Strategic Cities will share ways you can overcome resistance and generate community support. Drawing on the experience of often controversial public space initiatives around the world, Mark Ames will discuss how to share your vision, make friends with the media and get the public to embrace your bold ideas for more people-friendly places.

This free event is open to anyone who wants to build better cities and towns. It's especially suitable for local government staff, elected members, transport planners, policy makers, public health professionals, community advocates and walking and cycling organisations.
