The City of Vincent issues a limited number of residential parking permits to residents and ratepayers in selected areas. These permits allow residents reasonable access to their properties where restrictions may otherwise be in place. Permits are now issued, on application, to residents who meet the criteria outlined in the Parking Permits Policy 3.9.3, and allow for street parking in time restricted areas. Vincent is growing.
Our lively urban villages, fantastic facilities and our proximity to the Perth city centre means that the pressure on parking in recent years has grown. Managing parking is a challenge for all inner-city councils. As Vincent continues to grow and prosper, the demand for finite kerbside space will continue to increase and effective planning and management is critical going forward. Following careful consideration of community feedback, together with analysis of what other comparable councils are doing to manage their parking challenges, at its 20 September 2016 meeting, Council revised the City's Parking Permits Policy 3.9.3 and streamlined the permits process to make life easier for you, and us.
These were the key amendments to the policy:
> The same permit will be used for both residents and visitors and these will simply be called 'Residential Parking Permits’ (we used to have different permits for residents and visitors).
> Residential Parking Permits will be valid for a period of three years, and new permits will be automatically sent out to you every three years – you don’t have to reapply.
> Your permit(s) is valid only within a particular zone.
> The permits ‘run with the property’ and can be transferred between owner or tenant. People occupying a property must ask the property owner or previous property owner for the Parking permits applicable to that property.
Note: Residential Parking Permits
- Up to three (3) Residential Parking Permits can be issued to residents, providing the criteria is met.
- The permit allows vehicles clearly displaying the permit to park in areas designated “Residential Permit Holders Excepted” within relevant zone.
- The permit also exempts vehicles from complying with parking time restrictions, 1 hour or more, in the relevant zone so issued.
- It should be noted that the parking permit does not exempt the driver from the provisions of the Road Traffic Code.
Which parking zone is my property in?
The City of Vincent contains nine different parking zones - and your permit is valid only within that particular zone. Please view the map below to see which parking zone your property is in.

Apply for a Residential Parking Permit
Residential permits will only be issued when you produce the following documents:
- Proof of Occupancy e.g. your current rate notice or current rental agreement.
Residential parking restrictions apply in some areas and failure to display a current permit will result in an Infringement Notice being issued.

- Plunkett Street
- Court Street
- Chertsey Street
- Stirling Street between Lincoln Street and Broome Street
- Smith Street between Lincoln Street and Broome Street
- Wright Street between Lincoln Street and Broome Street
- Broome Street between Wright Street and Stirling Street
Lost or Damaged Permits
Should a permit be lost for any reason, the City should be notified as soon as practical. A nominal fee may be payable for its replacement.
Should the permit become damaged or faded, a replacement can be issued upon request and on receipt of the damaged permit.
