Environmental Awards and Grants


The Town has introduced an Environmental Grants programme to assist schools and community groups to carry out environmental projects and implement other environmental initiatives within the Town. Awards will be given to individuals and schools for their environmental achievements within the Town.



ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS - SCHOOLS

Any school* can apply for an Environmental Grant to assist them in developing and implementing initiatives to raise awareness in matters relating to the local environment.

The Environmental Grants are a way to promote environmental issues, create environmental awareness and environmentally-friendly initiatives as part of the Town’s Sustainable Environment Plan 2007-2012.

Schools within the Town are eligible for grants of up to $750.00 and schools outside of the Town up to $500.00, for environmental projects that target current environmental issues.

For your school to be considered for a grant your proposed environmental initiative must address at least one of the following five (5) goals:

• Cleaner air/reducing greenhouse gas emissions
• Water conservation
• Managing waste through recycling/composting/waste minimisation
• Sustainable energy use
• Biodiversity improvement – wetlands/groundwater/rivers.

*Note: Where your school is located outside of the Town of Vincent, please provide supporting information that demonstrates that at least 25 students that attend the school, reside in the Town.




ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS - COMMUNITY GROUPS

A Community Group or Not-for-Profit Organisation can apply for an Environmental Grant to assist them in developing and implementing initiatives which involve the local community to raise awareness in matters relating to the local environment.

The Environmental Grants are a way to promote environmental issues, create environmental awareness and environmentally-friendly initiatives as part of the Town’s Sustainable Environment Plan 2007-2012.

Grants of up to $2,500 for environmental projects that target current environmental issues and may benefit the Vincent community are offered.

For your organisation to be considered for a grant your proposed environmental initiative must address at least one of the following five (5) goals:

• Cleaner air/reducing greenhouse gas emissions
• Water conservation
• Managing waste through recycling/composting/waste minimisation
• Sustainable energy use
• Biodiversity improvement – wetlands/groundwater/rivers.



The next funding round will be open on Monday 21 September and close on Friday 16 October. The applications for grants will be advertised in the local papers and application forms available on this site.
