Public Buildings

A Public Building is a building where people congregate and can include a cinema, tavern, sporting/recreation facility, public hall or church. 

Environmental Health Officers are responsible for the approval and regular assessment of all public buildings in conjunction with relevant agencies. Public buildings are assessed on their type of use, maximum number of persons permitted at any one time, and public safety.

Should you be considering opening a Public Building, please contact the Planning and Building Services Section to ensure you have the right approvals. The Health Services Guidelines for Public Buildings is available to assist you in gaining a working knowledge of relevant requirements.
