Business Beats

Business Beat is an ongoing joint initiative between the Town of Vincent and the WA Police Crime Prevention Unit. Commenced in 2003, Business Beat is a partnership between the Police, Town of Vincent and local businesses with the intention to reduce crime and increase safety amongst local businesses.

In March 2006, Town of Vincent Safer Vincent Co-ordinator Michael Wood hit the pavement with police officers Senior Constable Frank Bell and Senior Constable Alex Brown from the Crime Prevention Unit and conducted a ‘Business Beat’ on Fitzgerald Street, North Perth to canvass local businesses on any problems that they might be having in regards to crime. The initiative was so well received that another Business Beat on Beaufort Street took place in late April.

Some 90 businesses were visited with Town of Vincent ‘Business Beat’ packages and WA Police ‘Burglar Beware’ pamphlets handed to business proprietors, giving tips on how to secure their business, prevent crimes from occurring and handy contact numbers for police and the Town. The feedback was positive from businesses with a number of issues raised with police officers on hand to answer any queries and concerns.
